Vandals' attack costs Epsom coaches an estiamted £20,000
Coach and bus provider Epsom Coaches, have offered up a £1,000 reward for information regarding a number of their vehicles which came under attack from vandals last week.
In total 5 vehicles were damaged in the rampage. The vandals smashed in the windows of 4 coaches and one bus. The vehicles were parked on a main road, Longmead Road in Surrey, when the incident took place. 28 windows were destroyed with an emergency hammer during the early hours of last Friday morning, January 29th.
A £1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who comes forward with information which leads to a prosecution of the perpetrators.
The mindless act is set to cost the company some £20,000. This includes the price of fixing the damaged coaches, and also the cost of having 5 vehicles out of operation.
Steve Whiteway, the commercial director at Epsom, explained that the vehicles were parked out on the road as their depot is currently undergoing a redevelopment. Ironically part of the improvements to the new yard will be the installation of CCTV cameras.
The CCTV cameras on the road where the buses were parked did not capture any significant evidence of the culprits. The police are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with any information to come forward.
