Robbie Knievel to attempt the famous double-decker bus jump in Wembley

Robbie Knievel, the son of world famous daredevil Evel Knievel, will attempt to recreate one of his father’s most memorable stunts. The attempt to jump over 16 double-decker buses riding a Harley Davidson XR-750 bike will take place at Wembley during May.

However Evel’s stunt to jump 13 double-decker buses back in the 1975 left him with a broken pelvis. An audience of 90,000 were present to witness the act but the wheel of the bike clipped the last bus on the row whilst in the air and brought Evel crashing down, with the bike on top of him.

Despite this major set-back, true to form Evel was back to full fitness in no time and re-attempted the stunt, this time in Ohio, and succeeded in clearing 14 double-decker buses, just 5 months after the accident.

47 year old Robbie has been following on his father’s daredevil footsteps for some time, and first came to recognition back in 1989 when he cleared a 150ft jump over the fountain at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The stuntman says he’s confident his father will be “smiling down on this one” as he prepares to triumph at the same venue, doing the same stunt, which narrowly toppled Evel Knievel.
