South Lanarkshire Coach Company closes with no warning
Coach Tour Company, Farme Minibuses of Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, have closed their business without any warning much to the anger of many customers who stand to lose money after making bookings with the firm.
The head of Farme Minibuses, David Baird, set up a base for the company in Rutherglen shopping centre and offered coach tours to various locations in the UK. The firm had taken a number of bookings from local people for forthcoming trips with most customers paying a deposit to secure their booking.
However the outlet from which the company was operating closed suddenly on Friday October 30th and those who have tried to contact the business have been unable to get in touch with anyone involved in Farme Minibuses. One local woman had booked a coach trip for four people to Blackpool over New Years and has paid a £200 deposit. She has tried and failed to get hold of Mr Baird who is the head of the company and looks set to lose her money.
One hotelier from Blackpool, Sue Allen, whose establishment was used by Mr Baird as part of his travel tours, said the company owes her over £1700. Ms Allen added that several cheques she had received from Mr Baird for payment had bounced.
A number of other creditors, including a minibus hire firm where Mr Baird rented his vehicles, and the shopping centre bosses are trying to track own the wayward company boss. South Lanarkshire Council have also confirmed that they are running their own investigation into Farme Minibuses.
Was one of a group of 7 adults who booked Farme minibuses for return trip to Blackpool, travelling on 30th Dec.’09 till 2nd Jan.’10, paying £210 by cheque to David Baird. We received our receipt for amount paid and also given pick-up times for journey’s there and back. Did not know of any problem until I checked his website. Was wondering if there had been any update as to the whereabouts of this guy, or anything that has happened since the closure of the company. Would appreciate any info’ on the subject.
yours truly,Allan McIntyre.
