Coach Hire Company celebrates 90 years in business by opening up its collection of vintage buses to the public

Classic buses dating back as far as 1947 will be on display at the Chelmsford firm's HQ this weekend

A Chelmsford Coach Hire Company is celebrating 90-years in the transport business by opening up its depot full of vintage vehicles to the public.

For one day only, the passengers who’ve been serviced by Lodge Coaches over the years will have the opportunity to step back in time by taking a peek inside the Chelmsford company’s head quarters.

Lodge Coaches have vehicles dating back as far as 1947, and as well as vintage coaches and buses, the firm also has number of classic cars and tractors amongst its impressive collection. Over Bank Holiday Sunday visitors to the company’s depot will have the chance to get up close to these rare vehicles, and even take a ride on selected coaches.

The transport firm has been providing the Chelmsford area with bus and coach services for the last 90 years , offering both school bus services and coach tours across the UK. The boss at Lodge Coaches said the company decided to open its doors to the public as they want the community who join in wit the firm’s celebration of reaching the 90-year milestone.

All proceeds from the open day will be donated to local charity, the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

Transport Company celebrates anniversary with vintage bus rides

Vintage buses will take to the roads of North Somerset this Saturday

A transport company from Nailsea in North Somerset will celebrate its 41st anniversary in style by treating its loyal customers to a ride on a vintage bus next Saturday.

Approximately 12 traditional buses will be drafted in to operate three bus routes in the local area on Saturday May 8th. In order to give passengers an authentic taste of transport from a bygone era the buses will have conductors onboard and also traditional ticket machines.

As well as operating the vintage buses on a three normal routes, a number of mystery tours have also been arranged especially for the occasion. The three regular routes which will be catered for with the classic buses on Saturday include the Nailsea to Clevedon service, plus the 40B circular and the 40A circular service.

The bus firm organised the same event last year to celebrate 40 years of business and the occasion was such a big hit with all of their customers that the bosses decided to do the same thing this year. According to the event organisers a fleet of traditional buses which will be used as part of the event will all originate from the local Bristol area.

The bus company has been transporting the people of North Somerset since 1969 and now operates a number of bus routes in the local vicinity.
