The bus driver of the number 57 service in Devon got quite a surprise when an entire bridal party including the bride in all her finery, five bridesmaids dressed in pink, and the bride’s father in full Marine’s uniform boarded the Saturday afternoon service bound for the church.
25-year-old bride-to-be, Eve Lewis, boarded the 14:08 bus, which stops right outside of her family’s home, to ride to the church where she was due to marry fiancé, Michael Moulton-Brady on her big day earlier this month. The trainee nurse had, according to her mother, left the wedding transportation until the very last minute, prompting her family to tease her that she’d have to travel to the church on the number 57 bus.
After looking into the cost of a wedding car, the frugal bride-to-be decided the money would be better spent elsewhere, and so decided to actually take the bus to her wedding after the jokes from her family. The bride even contacted Stagecoach, the bus company which operates the number 57 service, to make sure the company wouldn’t mind the bridal party taking the bus on the big day.
Although the bus driver was slightly bemused to see the bridal party catching the bus, the other passengers were very excited and enjoyed sharing their journey with bride and her bridesmaids.
