Strawberry buses will allow redheads to ride for free as part of a special promotion
St Helens based Bus Company, Strawberry, embraces all things red, and is therefore offering a special promotion until next week whereby all red-heads get to ride the bus for free. All natural gingers will have their bus fares waived when travelling on the service between Skelmersdale, St Helens, and Warrington.
The husband and wife team behind the Strawberry bus company which runs hourly services, said they hoped the promotion would bring a sense of fun to bus travel. The special offer will also go a long way to raising the profile of this newly formed company too.
The drive to celebrate all ginger haired individuals comes after recent research suggested red hair could die out within the next 100 years. The Managing Director of Strawberry, Oliver Howarth said: “At Strawberry we love everything red so when we heard about the decline of red-haired people we wanted to mark the news with our own tribute to redheads.”
A word of warning to anyone who is considering posing as a ginger to get free travel: All Strawberry bus drivers have been issued with a colour chart from which they will be able to determine if a passenger is ginger enough to be eligible for the special offer, and dyed red hair does not count. However all genuine gingers need to get in fast as the promotion ends on December 15th.
